Issue concerns are fueling a reorganized Progressive Prince George’s group

/PM BlogSpace Report/ After a period of reorganization, Progressive Prince George's is up and running again!

The Prince George’s County Chapter of Progressive Maryland held a successful meeting on Thursday night, May 11th at Local 400, United Food and Commercial Workers Union in Lanham. A new Coordinating Committee was introduced.

Four key issues of concern in our county emerged: healthcare, education, campaign finance reform, and economic matters, each with an Issue Lead. A lead for a fifth issue, transportation, has emerged since the meeting.  Each issue working group will meet independently between quarterly chapter meetings, to choose their priority issue and plan strategy around it. Please join an issue working group according to your interests!

 Next Steps:

We plan to expand the coordinating committee to include the issue leads. And we are looking for a point person for each County Council District. Each point person will build a team by reaching out to current Progressive MD members in that district as well as their own local friends and neighbors. The team will mobilize when needed to advocate with their councilperson on a progressive issue, or to support new candidates for the office.

We are excited to be leading Progressive Maryland in our county, at this time of tumult and opportunity in our nation and state.  Please contact us to find out how to get involved, regarding either an issue or your county council district!
