Bring Fair Elections to Prince George's County!
At every level of government from Congress to municipalities, we deserve a government that is accountable to all of us, not to just to wealthy donors.
A small-donor matching program in Prince George's County will:
-
Make county government accountable to all of us by giving candidates the opportunity to reject big donors and special interests money and to instead seek support from everyday residents
-
Amplify the voice of the average contributor through a tiered match system
-
Increase participation in county elections by empowering small donors
-
Break down the barriers to running for office by allowing county residents with strong ideas and a call to public service to run for office, regardless of their personal connections to wealthy donors or corporate contributors
As a resident of Prince George's County, I urge our council members to introduce, support, and pass legislation to reduce the power of corporations, developers, and wealthy donors and ensure everyday residents have a bigger voice in our elections.

Fair Elections - On all levels of government there is a a feeling that our elected officials are not solely accountable to the people who voted them into office. Our elected representatives are also accountable to wealthy donors and special interests that fund their campaigns. Progressive Prince George's is working to ensure everyday people have a bigger voice in our elections. We are urging the county council to introduce, support, and pass legislation that will create a small donor matching program. It will give candidates an opportunity to reject big donor, special interest money and amplify the voice of everyday residents through a tiered donation matching system.
