Maryland Governor
Wes Moore for Governor - Congratulations!
Wes Moore, a combat veteran, bestselling author, small business owner, Rhodes Scholar and former CEO of one of the nation’s largest anti-poverty organizations, has devoted his life’s work to a basic principle: no matter your start in life, you deserve an equal opportunity to succeed – a job you can raise a family on, a future you can look forward to. Wes was born in Takoma Park, Maryland, to Joy and Westley Moore. Wes graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Valley Forge Military College in 1998 and then Phi Beta Kappa from Johns Hopkins University in 2001. Earlier in his career, Wes built and launched a Baltimore-based business called BridgeEdU, which reinvents freshman year of college for underserved students to increase their likelihood of long-term success. It was Wes’ commitment to taking on our toughest challenges that brought him to the Robin Hood foundation, where he served for four years as CEO. Of the many titles Wes has held over the years, there are two that he’s most proud of: husband and father. Wes and his wife Dawn live with their two children in Baltimore City.
Statewide Office
Anthony Brown for Attorney General -Congratulations!
Anthony Brown was elected to his first term representing Maryland’s 4th Congressional District - encompassing parts of Anne Arundel and Prince George’s Counties - on November 8, 2016 and was sworn in on January 3, 2017. He is currently serving his third term in Congress.
Brooke Lierman for Comptroller - Congratulations!
Brooke Lierman is an effective and passionate legislator, a mother of two, and a disability and civil rights attorney. After spending five years as a Member of the Appropriations Committee in the General Assembly, she assumed a leadership role on the Environment and Transportation Committee in 2019. She also sits on the Joint Committee on Ending Homelessness, the Oversight Committee on Pensions, and founded and co-chairs the Maryland Transit Caucus.As the state’s financial guardian, Brooke will establish and lead a culture of modernization, transparency and purpose that fully leverages the power of the Comptroller’s office to unlock opportunity for every Maryland family and small business; incentivize the private sector; promote innovation; and encourage investment in every corner of our state.
Congress
Heather Mizeur for Congress (District 1, Eastern Shore)
Heather Mizeur has spent her professional life over the last twenty-five years passionately engaged in public service. She is a policy expert, a former elected official and gubernatorial candidate, a farmer and the founder and CEO of a non-profit organization focused on bridging the partisan political divide . The common thread through all of her work is a desire to advance bold policy while building consensus and creating the connections needed to face the challenges ahead.Heather’s career also includes four years of national service as a member of AmeriCorps, where she worked as a tutor and mentor with students sponsored by the I Have a Dream Foundation. Heather and her wife Deborah have made their forever home on a 34-acre farm outside of Chestertown, on Maryland’s beautiful Eastern Shore.
Baltimore County
Sheila Ruth for State Delegate (District 44B – Baltimore County) - Congratulations!
Sheila Ruth is a sitting member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 44B in Baltimore County. She serves on the House Environment & Transportation Committee, where she has been a fierce advocate for progressive priorities that address climate, transit equity, racial justice, universal healthcare, mental health, juvenile justice, disability rights, reproductive rights, and workers' rights. Sheila brings to her work a deep passion for justice and a strong commitment to improving the lives of her constituents and all Marylanders. Prior to becoming State Delegate, Sheila was a lead organizer in the coalition that passed Baltimore County’s HOME (Housing Opportunities Made Equal) Act, a critical piece of civil rights legislation that prohibits housing discrimination based on a person’s source of income. She previously served on the Baltimore County Democratic Central Committee and as a co-chair of Our Revolution Baltimore.
Eastern Shore
Michele Gregory for State Senate (District 38 – Somerset, Wicomico, Worcester Counties)
Salisbury City Councilmember Michele Gregory is a public servant, wife, mother of three, educator, and former small business owner. Michele understands the struggles that working Marylanders face. Her life experience with the financial impacts of medical debt, incurred during a family health crisis, and the difficulties of being a medical advocate for her special needs child have led Michele to recognize the urgent need for transformative political change. She is strongly committed to health equity, and she will work tirelessly to ensure all Marylanders have easy access to quality health care and medications without the threat of accumulating devastating medical debt. In the Salisbury City Council, Michele has fought for meaningful measures to protect and enhance the lives of her constituents on the Eastern Shore, and she plans to bring those same fights to the State Senate. In Annapolis, she will prioritize investing in a human-centered economy, supporting the agricultural community, helping small businesses flourish, stewarding Chesapeake Bay ecosystems, expanding senior services, implementing universal pre-K, and protecting civil rights.
Frederick County
Andrew Duck for Delegate (District 4 - Frederick County)

Andrew is the 15th of 17 children and graduated from Middletown High School. He has been married to his wife, Whitney, for over 40 years. They have three children and five grandchildren. Andrew served in the Army for over 20 years as a Military Intelligence Officer, which included three tours in Bosnia and time on the ground in Iraq. Andrew retired from the Army and decided to get politically active. He ran for Congress in 2006 and helped to lay the groundwork for turning Frederick County from a Republican leaning county to a Democratic leaning county. Andrew was active in 2016 with the formation of Our Revolution, Frederick County Progressives, and organized the Love Trumps Hate Rally, which lead to the formation of Frederick Cares. Andrew has long been a supporter of Unions as well an advocate for Medicare for All. Andrew believes by identifying solutions to the challenges we face we can build our communities back better than before, which includes not having insurrectionists in the State Legislature. Andrew wants to fight inflation by enforcing anti-trust and price gouging laws, ensuring that everyone is paying a fair price rather than padding the pockets of CEOs. Andrew also would like to transition off of fossil fuels, eliminating one of the major factors in inflation. Andrew would push for funding to build a second hospital in Frederick County and advocate for funding to increase access to mental healthcare.
Millicent Hall for State Delegate (District 4 - Frederick County)
Millicent was born in FMH, now called Frederick Health Hospital and just turned 40 in May. Millicent is married to her husband Doug, and they have two children and three dogs. Millicent became politically active when her youngest, who has special needs, entered Pre-K and she wanted to do more to help improve education for both teachers and students. Millicent ran for the Board of Education and built a reputation of being honest and reliable. Millicent went on to serve as the VP of the Women's Democratic League of Frederick County, Board Member of United Democrats of Frederick County, and a Member of the Frederick County Democratic Central Committee. Millicent was active in Frederick County Progressives, and was the Frederick contact for the Bernie Campaign. She later went on to take an active role in Our Revolution Western MD. In 2018 Millicent developed Dysautomina/POTS, which caused her to be hospitalized four times in six months, and she spent a year and a half in a wheelchair. With hard work and physical therapy Millicent was able to get out of the wheelchair and that experience ignited a passion for healthcare. Millicent also believes that politicians need to stop worrying about getting re-elected and start getting things done. Millicent believes that treating people with dignity and respect, and actively listening and engaging with constituents will build a sense of collective community which will help bridge the political divides that exist in District 4.
Montgomery County
Kate Stewart for Montgomery County Council (District 4) - Congratulations!
Kate first came to Montgomery County in 1995, renting a house on Philadelphia Avenue with her husband Jon. Several years later, they moved to a home in Takoma Park, where they raised their two children, Jamie and Bridget; both recent graduates of Montgomery Blair High School.
Kate was elected as the Mayor of Takoma Park in 2015 and has proven her ability to lead— even as so many communities, like hers, have had to handle issues ranging from the COVID-19 crisis, underlying economic inequalities, racial injustice, and climate change. Her record shows that effective government is the product of effective leadership and she wants to see her larger community served by leaders who roll up their sleeves in the face of steep challenges.
Laurie-Anne Sayles for Montgomery County Council At-Large - Congratulations!
Laurie-Anne Sayles is a lifelong public servant who envisions a more inclusive, informed, and innovative Montgomery County led by a responsive and conscientious government. In 2017, Laurie-Anne was elected to the Gaithersburg City Council, becoming the first African American councilmember in the city’s history after running a people-powered, energetic grassroots campaign. A seasoned advocate, she has fought for a $15 minimum wage, expanded access to early childhood education, immigration reform, environmental justice, and other policies to build a more equitable society. She uses her life experiences to fuel a steadfast commitment to helping others who are underserved, underrepresented, and less fortunate. Laurie-Anne is running to bring her S.M.A.R.T. government platform to Montgomery County, with a policy agenda designed to strengthen public education, improve housing affordability, invest in local food production, revitalize the economy, and establish equitable transportation initiatives.
Marc Elrich for Montgomery County Executive - Congratulations!
Marc Elrich was elected to the Takoma Park City Council from 1987 and served until 2006. As part of that body, he was involved in immigrant rights, sanctuary legislation, strengthening the city’s rent stabilization law, passing a law recognizing domestic partnerships, creating day laborer sites, and introducing and passing resolutions opposing both Iraq wars. From 1989 to 2006, he also taught at Rolling Terrace Elementary School, one of the highest-poverty public schools in Montgomery County. He ended up attending Johns Hopkins to earn a Master’s in Teaching and he taught fourth grade for 14 years and fifth grade for three years. His experience teaching was what reinforced to him that, if we really want to close the opportunity gap and help kids succeed, we need to address the destabilizing impacts of poverty. Kids experience stress when they don’t know where they’re going to live the next month, and it’s really hard to ask a kid whose stomach hurts on Monday morning because she hasn’t eaten a hot meal since Friday lunch to focus on school. He has seen firsthand how helping families economically can have a major impact on kids’ lives. He also has business experience, having worked for both a large corporation and a small local business. He understands the challenges of meeting payroll and being successful in the marketplace.
Natali Fani-González for Montgomery County Council (District 6) - Congratulations!
Natali Fani-González is a social, economic, and environmental justice advocate. She believes everyone in Montgomery County deserves to live somewhere safe, vibrant, and affordable, with access to well-paying jobs, strong schools, quality health care, reliable public transportation, and beautiful green spaces to enjoy and protect. Natali has extensive civil service experience and a history of working closely with community organizations and labor unions to address the needs of community members. Before stepping down to run for office, she served as Vice Chair of the Montgomery County Planning Board and a Commissioner for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, the bi-county agency that regulates real estate development, plans transportation infrastructure, and manages the park systems in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.
Prince George's County
Edward Burroughs III for Prince George’s County Council (District 8) - Congratulations!
A lifelong South County resident, Edward Burroughs has spent the last decade serving as an elected member of the Prince George’s County Board of Education. In this role, Edward has built a strong reputation for speaking out against political corruption, fighting for innovative and transformative education policies, and holding public school system leaders accountable for providing all students a quality education. As the Director of Legislative Affairs for the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney, Edward also has firsthand experience developing thoughtful crime prevention policies to keep communities safe. On the County Council, Edward will continue to push tirelessly for government transparency and accountability. He will be a fierce advocate for youth, working families, and seniors across the district, ensuring county policies and initiatives are always developed in ways that give back to local communities and uplift future generations.
Eric Olson for Prince George’s County Council (District 3) - Congratulations!
Eric represented Prince George’s County District 3 as its Council Member from 2006 – 2014. He served as County Council Vice Chair from 2010 to 2012, and as Chair of its Transportation, Housing, and Environment Committee. Eric chaired the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Region Forward Committee, and served as a member of the region’s Transportation Planning Board. He previously served as a board member for the Coalition to Build the Purple Line. He is a recipient of the Center for Nonprofit Advancement’s Phyllis Campbell Newsome Public Policy Leadership Award. He has spent many seasons on the playing fields and courts of the area, coaching youth soccer and basketball, and lives in College Park with his wife, Sarah, and two daughters.
Jamila Woods for State Delegate (District 26 – Prince George’s County) - Congratulations!
Rev. Jamila J. Woods is a 2-time graduate of Howard University, having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Divinity. Additionally she earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland, at Baltimore. Rev. Jamila is currently a licensed Social Worker, and is employed with the District of Columbia Government. She is also the owner of Gabriel’s Lyric Therapeutic Services, LLC, in Prince George’s County Maryland. She is also the Pastor of Jabez Christian Community Church, in Charles County, Maryland.
Krystal Oriadha for Prince George’s County Council (District 7) - Congratulations!
Krystal Oriadha has spent years advocating for policies and legislation that support and protect the residents of Prince George’s County. As co-founder of the grassroots organization PG ChangeMakers, she has worked to break down systemic racism and address community issues around housing, food insecurity, health care, LGBTQ rights, police reform, and education. Krystal recognizes the importance of standing in solidarity with the communities most impacted by policies to build grassroots power, and she’s ready to introduce an agenda that reflects this at the county level. On the Prince George’s County Council, Krystal will fight to pass policies that improve the overall quality of life in local communities, ensure economic development serves everyone, and center the voices and needs of the county’s most vulnerable residents.
Wala Blegay for Prince George’s County Council (District 6) - Congratulations!
Wala Blegay is an attorney, community activist, and advocate committed to improving the quality of life for Prince George’s County residents. She currently serves as counsel for the DC Nurses Association, where she works to gain labor protections and improve the workplace for nurses and other health care workers. Wala has advocated for civil rights, fought foreclosures, and rallied for police reform. She has provided resources to victims of domestic violence, pushed for quality healthcare access for all Marylanders, and worked to protect immigrant families. On the Prince George’s County Council, she will widen the pathway for programs that benefit constituents through direct access to quality healthcare, increased mental health services, and affordable housing initiatives. She will lead efforts to support and strengthen the local economy through innovative initiatives designed to support small businesses and build generational wealth in historically marginalized communities.
