Internships

We're seeking interns to support our work building power for working families throughout Maryland. The ideal candidate will have a genuine commitment to public service, strong written and oral communication skills, research skills, and the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.

Progressive Maryland is one of the state's largest grassroots advocacy organizations with more than 120,000 members, supporters, and affiliated organizations. Our mission is to empower communities to act for social, economic, and racial justice by developing leaders and cultivating allies at the grassroots level.

We're building a movement with the power to change our economic system for the benefit of all people in Maryland. As an intern, you will be an integral part of our team helping to further our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare correspondence, write reports, news articles and track proposed legislation

  • Assist with community-based projects, events, and campaigns

  • Engage communities in our work through door-to-door canvassing and phone banking events

  • Meet with community members, activists and policy makers 

  • Contribute to the PMD blog and assist with all forms of digital outreach

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a full or part-time undergraduate or graduate program

  • Available to work 15 or more hours per week

  • Dedicated to progressive values and Progressive Maryland's mission

  • Comfortable working in traditional office setting as well as community and government buildings and outdoors
  • Experience with political campaigns a plus, but is not required

  • Weekly check-ins with supervisor
  • Personal laptop or computer and cell phone required
