Dear friends and members of the Progressive Maryland community,

It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of our beloved friend and longtime board member, Maria Dennis.

Maria was a dedicated member of the Progressive Maryland community and a committed volunteer with the Frederick County Progressives. She brought her full heart to this work, showing up consistently, believing deeply in people, and helping build a more just and compassionate Maryland through organizing and service.

Maria’s lifelong commitment to community, education, and human services was evident in everything she did. Whether through her advocacy, her professional life, or her steady presence in our movement, she reminded us what it means to care for one another and to stay grounded in purpose.

We will miss her warmth, her dedication, and her unwavering belief that change is possible when people come together.

We hold her son Nicolas, her family, and all who loved her in our thoughts during this difficult time.
