Real Safety. Local Accountability. Community Trust.
Incumbent Chuck Jenkins has spent nearly two decades turning the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office into a platform for Donald Trump’s extreme MAGA agenda. It’s time for leadership that puts Frederick County families first. Vote for change: vote Karl Bickel for Sheriff.Â
Two Paths for Frederick County
Chuck Jenkins: The MAGA Agenda |
Karl Bickel: Community Safety First |
|
Diverting Local Resources Pushes Trump’s mass deportation agenda through ICE’s 287(g) program, wasting local tax dollars and deputy time on federal immigration enforcement. |
Focused on Local Crime Keeps deputies focused on fighting crime and protecting local neighborhoods—not doing the federal government's job. |
|
Breaking Community Trust Collaborates with ICE, driving crime victims and witnesses into the shadows and making all of Frederick County less safe. |
Building Strong Partnerships Follows Maryland law, ensuring everyone in our community feels safe coming forward to report crimes and cooperate with law enforcement. |
|
Undermining Deputy Standards Cut annual service training and eliminated the local training academy, doing only the absolute minimum required by state law. |
Investing in Law Enforcement Restores comprehensive training in de-escalation, modern response tactics, and officer wellness to support our deputies. |
|
Eroding Public Ethics Faces serious questions on accountability and ethics after a federal indictment over law enforcement letters used to acquire machine guns. |
Restoring Accountability & Transparency Brings nearly 50 years of clean, dedicated public service to rebuild trust, integrity, and transparency in the Sheriff’s Office. |

Karl Bickel’s Plan for Frederick County
1. Focus Deputies on Local Crime
Karl opposes the 287(g) program and will end local law enforcement collaboration with ICE. Sheriff’s deputies should spend 100% of their time preventing local crime, responding to emergencies, and protecting Frederick County residents.
2. Rebuild Community Trust & Safety
When immigrant communities fear reaching out to law enforcement, dangerous criminals walk free. Karl will follow Maryland laws to build strong relationships across every neighborhood so that victims and witnesses feel safe coming forward.
3. Tackle the Opioid Crisis
Punitive, outdated tactics haven't solved the addiction crisis. Karl will implement proven, evidence-based harm reduction strategies and work directly with local healthcare providers to save lives and support families.
4. Modern Training & True Accountability
Karl will restore comprehensive deputy training—focusing on de-escalation, mental health crisis response, and modern community policing tactics—while ensuring the Sheriff’s Office is fully transparent to the public it serves.
