The danger the COVID-19 virus brings to those trapped in Maryland’s prisons is acute.
Please join our Marylanders United community later today as we gather again to talk about our statewide COVID-19 response work. The focus this afternoon at 5:30 is on our incarcerated population and what is being done --Â and what more can be done to reduce the number of folks being detained in order to stop the spread of COVID19.

We are sure you have all been appalled by how Trump’s associates – the ones already convicted and sentenced – are being released from incarceration because their high-priced teams of lawyers rev up the dangers of COVID-19 in prison. And we ask where the concern for the desperate needs of the masses of persons imprisoned – disproportionately of color – is being expressed.
Those who are incarcerated, and those who work in jails and detention facilities are at risk; protecting them protects all of us. Depopulating the facilities is critical at this time.
Join us this afternoon for our community conversation on criminal justice in the time of COVID. Click here to RSVP.
You will:
-
Learn about the ways in which the pandemic is affecting our incarcerated population.Â
-
Get an update from Delegate Jazz Lewis (D-24) on the latest news about actions the state is taking.
-
Hear from Tricia Christensen, Policy Manager at the Maryland Harm Reduction Coalition, on drug use and criminalization.Â
-
Have an opportunity to ask questions and take action!Â
This is a meeting you won’t want to miss!Â
