Election Day is TOMORROW, Tuesday, November 3. If you haven’t voted yet, now is the time to make your plan. Check your polling location, confirm your voting hours, and take a look at the candidates endorsed by Progressive Maryland before heading to the polls. Every election shapes the decisions that affect our communities, our livelihoods, and our future.

There’s still another way to get involved: volunteer at the polls with the Maryland Democratic Party for Ballot Question 3 and pick a time that works for you.

And our work doesn't end when the polls close. Once newly elected legislators take office in Washington and Annapolis, we have an important role to play in holding them accountable and pushing for policies that improve the lives of working class families. Our state has an opportunity to lead, and we'll be organizing to help make that happen.

Read on for more ways to get involved, important updates, and state and national news you can use.

In Solidarity,
The Progressive Maryland Team

YOUR ELECTION DAY CHECKLIST:

Tuesday, November 3 | Polls open 7 AM–8 PM

Election Day is almost here! Make your plan, bring a friend, and make sure your voice is heard. Here's what to do before heading to the polls:

✔ Find your polling location. Your polling place may have changed, so double-check before you go! Look up your polling location here.

✔ Know the hours. Polls are open from 7 AM to 8 PM. As long as you're in line by 8 PM, you can vote!

✔ Review your ballot. Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the candidates and ballot questions before you arrive. Check out Progressive Maryland's endorsements and know where our endorsed candidates stand. Don't forget to Vote YES/FOR Question 3!

✔ Make a plan to get there. Decide when you'll vote, how you'll get to your polling place, and how much time you'll need.

✔ Bring a friend! Text a family member, call a neighbor, or invite a coworker to make a plan to vote, too. A friendly reminder can make all the difference.

✔ Stay in line! If you're in line when polls close at 8 PM, stay put. You still have the right to cast your ballot.

✔ Spread the word. Share this checklist and remind your friends, family, and community that tomorrow is Election Day!

Every vote matters, and every voice deserves to be heard. Let's turn out, Maryland!

Questions on ballot questions (3's a charm) amid a low-key, largely uncompetitive MD midterm. Elsewhere? Whew! It's News You Can Use

The determined redistricting effort by Maryland Dems runs into lots of pushback from its target -- dissident voters in Western Maryland and on the Eastern shore. Passage or failure, many say, may depend on how understandable the ballot language turns out to be for most voters. In other, more competitive states, the races are actually exciting.

Maryland news, even a week prior to the midterm election, is about how school reform is going (slowly, but with better attendance), and how hard it can be for the state government to explain (and account for) all the ways it spends money. More broadly, states are ginning up regulations on AI as the Trump administration takes a pass on regulation; more women run for state legislatures than ever before in US history, and (Trump again) the GOP Congress declines to enforce its own rules against executive overreach.

Does it all sound familiar? Alas, yes. Life might be different next year as a result of what happens next Tuesday; we'll see. Meantime we'll just continue to keep our eyes out for News You Can Use.

If you think we are missing important news, you should let the writer know, or write your own blog post and submit it.
