The supposed “Democratic Sample Ballots” produced by a Slate Committee using our name have not been authorized or approved by Progressive Maryland staff or its board of directors. We have asked candidates using this Slate committee to cease using the New Era Slate Committee resources for any further production or distribution of these sample ballots immediately.Â

Progressive Maryland Statement on Sample Ballots being circulated in Prince George’s County:
It has recently come to our attention that campaign literature labeled as “Official Democratic sample ballots” are being circulated in Prince George’s County with an authority line from a Slate Committee which carries our name. This Slate Committee is a campaign finance entity which some of our endorsed candidates have used to pool together resources for their races. The supposed “Democratic Sample Ballots” produced by this committee have not been authorized or approved by Progressive Maryland staff or its board of directors. Several of the sample ballots carry contradictory recommendations for various offices and most importantly many of the recommendations contradict with the endorsements Progressive Maryland has made in the 2022 election cycle. We have asked candidates using this Slate committee to cease using the New Era Slate Committee resources for any further production or distribution of these sample ballots immediately.Â
Â
Our candidates are free to endorse any other candidates of their choice, but we make this statement to clarify that the recommendations do not represent the opinions of Progressive Maryland. In addition to this, in instances where the Slate Committee authority line is placed on campaign literature which was not paid for or authorized by the Progressive Maryland New Era Slate Committee, the committee reserves the right to take the appropriate legal actions with the State Board of Elections to report a fraudulent authority line. We wish all of our candidates success and congratulate everyone who has worked hard to make it to the final stretch towards election day.
