Progressive Maryland announces a list of new candidate endorsements statewide for the 2022 General Election, including Wes Moore for Governor.

Annapolis, Maryland – Progressive Maryland announces 11 new endorsements for the 2022 Gubernatorial General Election: Wes Moore for Governor, Anthony Brown for Attorney General, Brooke Lierman for Comptroller, Dawn Gile for State Senate (District 33), Shawn Livingston for Anne Arundel County Council (District 7), Jacob Bennett for Harford County Council (District F), Stephen Puopolo for Harford County Board of Education (District A), Jonathan Briggs for Prince George's Board of Education (District 2), Branndon Jackson for Prince George's Board of Education (District 6), Kent Roberson for Prince George's Board of Education (District 9), and Karl Bickel for Frederick County Sheriff. The organization’s full list of 2022 candidate endorsements can be found on their website.

“This is our chance to elect a statewide group of leaders who will work for the people and help change the trajectory of our state politics,” said Larry Stafford, Executive Director of Progressive Maryland. “We know we need a progressive voice in the Governor’s seat. We have full confidence in Wes Moore as that voice and are proud to get behind the Moore-Miller campaign to see this through.”

“Our mission is clear - leave no one behind - and I’m grateful to have Progressive Maryland join our ranks and our mission,” said Wes Moore, Democratic Nominee for Governor of Maryland. “The coalition we are building is as diverse and broad as it is focused on the core mission - a Maryland that leaves no one behind, where every Marylander has real access to work, wages, and wealth. That means fighting to put more money back in working people's pockets, to make our communities safer, and to improve our public schools. Progressive Maryland has been a leader in that fight. As Governor, I’ll look forward to partnering with them to help get it done.”

Progressive Maryland plans to continue their electoral organizing, now including supporting the newly endorsed candidates, in the coming eight weeks, after building on the success the organization had in the 2022 primary. In the 60 days leading up to the July Primary Election, PM’s electoral team made over 218,000 attempts in its voter contact program, including doors knocked, phone calls made, and text messages sent in support of endorsed candidates. In addition, the Progressive Maryland Liberation Alliance PAC sent over 17 unique mailers to more than 30,000 households for priority candidates, and ran 3 voter-targeted digital ads that garnered almost 160,000 views. The PAC raised over $60,000 to fund this electoral work and financially support PM’s New Era Slate candidates’ campaigns. Based on the final results of the Primary Election, Progressive Maryland was able to achieve a 64% win rate for its New Era Slate candidates. The list of the organization’s 52 endorsed candidates who won the primary ticket can be found on their blog.
